Who Are We?

The Proxyma-B Quintet, started in 2024, strives for musical excellence through collaboration, hard work, accessibility, and, on occasion, being a little silly. Proxyma-B derives its unique sound in part from a unique instrumentation of Flute, Bb Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Bass Clarinet, and Bassoon. The members of the group are Ellie Colson, Kaitlyn Nohara, Cavan McCullough, Kaitlyn Rosling, and Phillip Aleshire.

Primarily performing contemporary music, the quintet has worked with and performed music from a wide variety of composers such as Remi Inari, Michael Gilbertson, and Abdo Timejardine-Zomeno. 

During the 2025-2026 concert season, Proxyma-B will be participating in a fellowship with CompassREsonance in Boulder, CO where they will be giving performances and participating and outreach events. Alongside the quintet’s fellowship, The Proxyma-B Quintet will be working on their debut album Their Eyes Were on the Stars, a contemporary chamber music album set to be released in the summer of 2026.
